Engineering services

Build the application your business runs on.

Most teams do not need a new idea — they need the thing they already know they need, built properly and handed over in a state they can operate. Paycon does that work: internal platforms, operations tooling, customer portals, integration layers and the services behind them.

Where we help

The applications we are usually asked for.

Internal platforms

The system your operations team lives in all day — work queues, approvals, records, roles and the reporting around them.

Customer portals

A place for your customers to self-serve: status, documents, requests and history, under your brand and your access rules.

APIs and integration

Contract-first services that let your systems talk to each other, and to partners, without a human copying data between them.

Cloud and delivery

Infrastructure as code, container builds, environment promotion and deployment pipelines — so releases stop being events.

Observability and SRE

Logs, metrics, traces and dashboards that reflect how the system actually fails, plus alerts and runbooks your team can act on.

Modernisation

Taking an application that works but cannot be changed safely, and getting it to a state where it can — tests, seams, migrations, staged cut-over.

Method

Design on paper, prove it in code, then build.

The expensive mistakes in application work are made in the first three weeks. We spend them deliberately.

  1. Discovery

We sit with the people who will use it. Output: a scoped problem statement, the constraints that are real, and options with rough cost attached.

  2. Architecture

A written design — data model, boundaries, integrations, non-functional targets — plus one thin slice running end to end on real infrastructure.

  3. Increments

Two-week cycles against an agreed backlog. Each one is deployed and demonstrated. Scope moves; the cadence does not.

  4. Handover

Pipelines, dashboards, alerts, runbooks and a working session with your engineers. The goal is that we become optional.

Engagement models

Three ways to work with us.

Which one fits depends on how settled the scope is and how much of the work your own team will carry. We will say which we think applies before you ask.

Discovery sprint

A fixed, short engagement that ends in a written architecture and a working vertical slice. Useful when the problem is agreed but the solution is not.

  • Fixed scope and fixed price
  • Deliverable is a document plus running code
  • No obligation to continue with us

Build engagement

A Paycon team builds and delivers the application in increments against an agreed backlog, in your repository and your cloud account.

  • Two-week increments, deployed each time
  • Your repository, your infrastructure
  • Documented handover at the end

Embedded engineering

Paycon engineers join your team and work to your process — for capacity, for a specific capability, or to raise the delivery floor.

  • Monthly, with a defined notice period
  • Your backlog and your standards
  • Knowledge stays with your team

We do not quote from a rate card on a website. Pricing follows scope, and scope follows a conversation.

Stack

What we build with.

These are our defaults, chosen for operability and for the availability of engineers who can maintain them. Where you already have a stack, we work in yours.

What "done" includes on every build
AreaIncluded
SourceYour repository, reviewed commits, no vendor lock in the code
TestsUnit and integration tests running in CI on every change
InfrastructureDeclared as code and reproducible into a fresh account
DeploymentA pipeline, not a person with an SSH key
OperationsDashboards, alerts and a runbook per alert
DocumentationArchitecture notes, decision records and a handover session

Next step

Bring us the problem, not the specification.

Describe what the business needs to be able to do and what you run today. We will come back with the questions that decide the shape of the answer.
